LANGUAGE POLICY AND NATIONAL INTEGRATION

India is the hope of humanity because it prevents civil strife, dictatorship, provide defence against hostile neighbours and safeguards weaker sections in all states. Transnational unions such as African Union, European Union and other efforts in Latin America, Arab states etc look at India for inspiration. However elite in India sustain a myth that union government should impose a common language which at this juncture the colonial language for unity is against the basic principles of founding fathers and detrimental to the unity and integrity of the country. Anglicism is anti nationalism and threat to national integration because it strengthens the linguistic imperialism of English that leads to inequality and underdevelopment which in turn justifies succession for strengthening state languages.

-    Disintegration of Soviet Union has empowered every small language of the Common wealth of Independent States such as Latvian, Ukrainian, Tajik etc that are being used as the medium of instruction in professional courses.

-     24 countries of Arab World speak same language and follow same religion, but do not constitute a country, so are the 18 Spanish speaking countries in Americas that follow same denomination of Christianity.

A common language is neither a necessary nor a sufficient condition for national integration. It is democracy and decentralisation based on gandhian concept of village republics that guarantees peace and development. The former colonial language as common language has not ensured national unity in sub-Saharan African countries.

India has the answer to the borderless world and the union of humanity. In the long run Arab states must unite. Africa must disarm its militaries and unite for better future. Corrupt, casteist and communal English speaking urban elite of India are against the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. In their neo-colonial vision, National Uniformity is more important than National Unity. They are the threat to national integration and hence enemy of humanity.

Partition has not solved the problem of national unity. It has made people foreign in their own land.

God bless India. God was kind enough to sent  Mahatma Gandhi to unite India. Disintegrated India would be worse than sub-Saharan Africa. There are more than enough number of ethnic groups, castes and religious groups to fight with each other. Stability is better achieved in unity.

Hope of humanity is thwarted by Indian anglophile intelligentsia and policy makers who are in power because of better display of sycophancy and not selfless social service. India has to emulate the liberal language policy of Ashoka, and draw lessons from the multilingualism of European Union .

European Union (EU):- The conduct of internal business called procedural Languages can be English, French and German in EU, but goes fully multi-lingual for public information and communication purposes in all the 23 working official languages.

Ashoka, the great: - The great emperor of India was the first ruler to use the language of people for administration and hitherto last at national level. It was a pragmatic policy based on simplicity of script, plural scripts for single language, decentralised language policy, enriched dialects and interestingly made Indian language as an international language.

Anglophile elite stress national uniformity than National Unity. They are the biggest threat to national integration in India. These casteist and communal ruling elite are reluctant to empower poor people. They are more loyal to Macaulay than to Mahatma.
